Renewed MoMo Brisbane a Mobile Success!

The revitalized Mobile Monday event in Brisbane this week was an unqualified success, with around 40 attendees joining Oliver Palmer, Chris Kettle and Phil Larsen to discuss iPhones, the application store, and the future of mobile at our new venue, The Exchange Hotel.

The audience listening intently to the presentations

Phil Larsen told the story of Halfbrick’s Fruit Ninja game, and what it took from a promotions effort to get to one million paid downloads on the AppStore. Besides of course an engaging, “sticky” game experience, it also takes a lot of hard work with reviewers and plain tactical sense to get your application noticed, rated, reviewed and (most importantly) bought in the launch period. My247’s Chris Kettle spoke about their effort to launch and promote MyMovies as a paid application, while TigerSpike’s Oliver Palmer provided some real insights into emerging trends around the world of mobile and mobile applications.

We also welcomed Peter Leutjens from AIMIA, our drink sponsors for the evening, and i.Lab’s Peter Allison, who spoke about their forthcoming Angel Investor event. We’d heartily recommend that you attend this event to get a chance to pitch your next mobile idea at some qualified local investors.

But the real star of the show was our new venue, The Exchange Hotel’s Corner Bar – our follow-up survey (mobile of course) confirmed the new room a resounding success, with the drinks, discussion and networking extending far into the evening.

Mark your calendars for the next Mobile Monday Brisbane, on Monday August 16th, and stay tuned to the e-mail list for forthcoming speaker, sponsor and other event announcements.

Mobile Monday Brisbane is back!

After too long a hiatus, we’re thrilled to announce that Mobile Monday Brisbane is back with a new venue, a bunch of great speakers and a fresh chance for the city’s mobile faithful to connect, mingle, and exchange experiences and ideas with similarly-minded mobile enthusiasts in the River City.

Save Monday, July 19th 2010 at 5:45pm (for a 6:00pm start) in your calendars for what promises to be a great evening of networking. We’ll be meeting at a new (for us) venue in the Brisbane CBD – The Exchange Hotel, and hearing presentations from Halfbrick’s Phil Larsen on their iPhone games, My247’s Chris Kettle on the MyMovies  application developed with Liquid Interactive, and TigerSpike’s Oliver Palmer on what’s happening in the mobile future. We’ll be closing the evening with a panel discussion aiming to throw open the doors on the pitfalls (if any) of the AppStore model for developers.
